Shout out to Erica and baby Logan!

Meet my friend Erica.  (She’s the one with the open kinder egg, for the record.)

We met 4 years ago in a class preparing us for our study abroad.  I remember when I first met her, I thought that she was way too cool to ever be my friend.

Oh how wrong I was. (Not to say that she isn’t really cool, she just isn’t stuck up about how cool she is, that’s all.)

After our study abroad started, we quickly became good friends. (I mean, jet lag and long bus rides tend to break down barriers pretty darn quickly.)  We knew a lot about each other really fast and became friends even faster.

After our study abroad ended, we kept in touch (especially because we had a lot of the same classes left in our degree) and we graduated together in April 2012.

In July 2012, she got married, and just this week had her first little baby.  But, at nearly the same time she was having a baby, her husband got a bacterial staph infection on his heart, had heart surgery, developed a blood clot in his brain, and last night passed away.

I don’t usually like to do this, but where this is one of my good friends, I really want to share her story with anyone who might read this little, insignificant blog.   Some kind soul has set up a fundraiser to help raise money for the medical and funeral expenses this little family has accrued.  I know it’s Christmas and money is sometimes tight this time of year, but if you have just a few extra dollars to give this is definitely a worthy cause!

The link to that fundraiser can be found here.

Please, please, please, help out if you can–and even if you are unable to donate financially, a few extra prayers sent their way would be much appreciated.

For more information, KSL did a story on Erica and Josh and Logan, which can be found here.
